LUMEN PRODUCTS – LIGHTS FOR LIFE!

A 2002 World Health Organisation report gives the worldwide number of deaths as a result of road traffic accidents and collisions with pedestrians as nearly 1.2 Million! (1)

This represents an average of 3,242 persons dying each day around the world. Of a total of 6,282 deaths in Germany involving road traffic 1,428 resulted from pedestrians or bicyclists being in collision with vehicles, these figures taken from the International Road Traffic and Accident Database (2).

In addition to this toll, in the European Union alone up to 1.7 million people a year are left injured or disabled by road traffic accidents. The costs – both direct and indirect – are estimated at € 160 billion.(3) With increased traffic and road use as well as the expansion of the road networks, projections indicate that these figures will increase by 65% over the next 20 years.

The scale of the problem is clear for all to see. As with all things, where risks are present there have to be solutions in place to minimize them. Where the risk involves potential loss of life, the need to address it is all the more pressing!

Here at Lumen we have brought to market some new products which we feel are valuable tools in the fight to reduce the number of pedestrian fatalities on our roads and pavements every year. These products increase the visibility of pedestrians – school children, rescue services, bicyclists and the like - and with the new technological developments we have implemented we believe our customers will be better placed than ever before to protect themselves.

On the following pages we would like to introduce you to our LUMEN products.
